Meaningful Harassment & Assault Engagement

Legislators for Harassment & Assault
Rachel works closely with State legislators to achieve progressive reforms. Seen here with NYS Senator Brad Hoylman and Assemblymember Deborah Glick.

Rachel has actively supported meaningful and substantive sexual harassment legislation which Governor Cuomo signed into law last August. In addition, she took the lead within the State Party advocating for legislation that would eliminate the statute of limitations for prosecution of rape in the first degree, extending the statute of limitations for second-degree rape from 5 to 20 years, and eliminating the statute of limitations entirely for first-degree incest.

Rachel fought vigorously for an independent investigation into the credible allegations of sexual harassment by then-Senator Jeff Klein, leader of the IDC. The so-called investigation – which failed to interview key witnesses or examine the physical location, was an obvious coverup and spurred an activist response from women throughout government and politics, ultimately resulting in Klein’s election defeat.
